Description
The Joseph B. Gittler Award is administered by the American Psychological Foundation (APF) and was established through a bequest from Joseph Gittler, PhD. It recognizes psychologists who are making, and will continue to make, scholarly contributions to the philosophical foundations of psychological knowledge.
The award considers both an established body of scholarship and plans for future contributions, with particular attention to accomplishments over the preceding five to 10 years. Its scope is illustrated by 2026 recipient Dr. Catherine Malboeuf-Hurtubise’s work adapting existential psychology to develop treatment modalities for children, including research on meaning, death, climate change, eco-anxiety, and despair.
