Description
The Joseph Breen Memorial Fellowship, sponsored by the American Chemical Society Green Chemistry Institute (ACS GCI), supports undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars attending the annual Green Chemistry & Engineering Conference. Fellows present research or educational work through an oral presentation or poster. The fellowship reimburses conference travel expenses rather than directly funding research projects.
Supported by the Joseph Breen Memorial Fund, the fellowship advances engagement in green chemistry and engineering. Green chemistry focuses on discovering and designing chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances. Awardees are recognized at the conference, carrying forward the commitment of Dr. Joe Breen, the first director of the Green Chemistry Institute before it became part of ACS.
