Description
The Josephine Forman Scholarship provides financial support to minority students pursuing graduate education in archival science. It encourages careers as archivists and promotes diversification of the American archives profession. The General Commission on Archives and History (GCAH) of The United Methodist Church sponsors and funds the scholarship in cooperation with the Society of American Archivists (SAA) and the SAA Foundation.
Established in October 2010 and first awarded in 2011, the scholarship honors Josephine Forman, who served for 18 years as archivist of the Southwest Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. Selection emphasizes excellent potential for scholastic and personal achievement, commitment to the archives profession, and commitment to advancing diversity concerns within it.
