Description
The Josephine Goodyear Foundation Grants program, administered through the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, supports nonprofit agencies serving underserved women and children. The program continues a charitable tradition begun in 1912, when Mrs. Frank Goodyear funded the Josephine Goodyear Convalescent Home in Williamsville, New York. The home provided disadvantaged women and children with pre-operative care and post-surgery recovery services. After World War II, antibiotics reduced demand for those services; the property was sold and the foundation was established to continue this assistance through grants.
