Co-sponsored by the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), this award supports studies of the use and outcomes of gastrointestinal endoscopy using the GI Quality Improvement Consortium (GIQuIC) registry. Projects should have the potential to improve endoscopy quality and outcomes through objective assessment of real-world procedures, including their indications and impact in ambulatory or inpatient settings.
GIQuIC must be a core research resource, although additional data sources are permitted. The award supports data acquisition, cleaning, and analysis alongside eligible research personnel, supplies, and essential equipment. Beyond the immediate project, the sponsors seek to help principal investigators build a foundation for larger extramural research proposals to federal or industry sponsors.
