Description
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program supports projects with a high probability of improving the criminal justice system. The South Carolina Department of Public Safety’s Office of Highway Safety and Justice Programs (OHSJP) administers the program in South Carolina. Funding can support additional personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual services, training, technical assistance, and information systems tied to an eligible program.
Authorized work spans law enforcement; prosecution and courts; prevention and education; corrections; drug treatment and enforcement; planning, evaluation, and technology; victim and witness initiatives other than compensation; mental health and related justice programs; and state crisis-intervention court initiatives. OHSJP prioritizes specified law enforcement, prosecution and court, and mental health projects, particularly from agencies that do not receive direct JAG awards.
