Description
The Utah Department of Criminal Justice, through the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice (CCJJ), administers Justice Assistance Grant funds allocated by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs and Bureau of Justice Assistance. Utah’s formula grant program distributes funds to eligible organizations across the state for criminal justice work.
Supported purposes include law enforcement; prosecution and courts, including indigent defense; prevention and education; corrections and community corrections; and drug treatment and enforcement. Funds can also support planning, evaluation, technology improvement, services for crime victims and witnesses, and mental health programs connected to law enforcement and corrections, including behavioral programs and crisis intervention teams.
