Description
Utah’s Justice Assistance Grants (JAG) program supports criminal justice operations, service delivery, and system improvement throughout the state. The Utah Department of Criminal Justice, formerly the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice (CCJJ), administers formula grant funds allocated by the U.S. Department of Justice through the Office of Justice Programs and Bureau of Justice Assistance.
The program supports work spanning law enforcement, prosecution, courts, indigent defense, prevention, corrections, treatment, and victim services. Planning, evaluation, and technology improvement are also supported purpose areas, making the program relevant to criminal justice agencies and service providers undertaking system-improvement work. Funding also covers mental health programs and related law enforcement and corrections initiatives, including behavioral programs and crisis intervention teams.
