Description
The South Carolina Department of Public Safety’s Office of Highway Safety and Justice Programs (OHSJP) administers Title II Formula Grant subawards to prevent youth from entering the juvenile justice system and improve how that system functions. Funding supports planning, establishing, operating, coordinating, and evaluating juvenile delinquency policies and projects, including education, training, research, prevention, diversion, treatment, and rehabilitation.
The FFY 2027 solicitation prioritizes deinstitutionalization of status offenders, reducing racial and ethnic disparities, and community-based alternatives to detention. Relevant work includes family engagement and trauma treatment, reporting centers and respite care, positive youth development, racial-bias training, and research or pilot programs analyzing local system data.
