Description
The K. Patricia Cross Future Leaders Award, administered by AAC&U, recognizes graduate students who show exemplary promise as future leaders of higher education. It emphasizes academic innovation in equity, community engagement, and teaching and learning, offering recognition and professional benefits to students preparing for careers in higher education.
The award honors K. Patricia Cross, Professor Emerita of Higher Education at the University of California–Berkeley. Her scholarship helped higher education better understand students, their characteristics and needs, and institutions’ responsibilities toward them. Her work laid foundations for scholarship on age, socioeconomic class, gender, race, sexual orientation, and other aspects of intersectional social identity. Recipients are recognized at AAC&U’s Annual Meeting.
