The fellowship provides a nine-month (or, in some cases, semester-long) residential appointment at the School for Advanced Research (SAR) in Santa Fe, NM, designed to give Native American scholars or writers time, space, and collaborative support to complete significant scholarly or literary projects in the humanities or social sciences. Fellows are expected to actively participate in SAR’s intellectual community and, if senior, to mentor junior fellows. The award includes a stipend and a campus apartment; fellows must reside on campus for at least 90% of the fellowship term.
