The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program is a U.S. Department of State initiative enabling high school students from countries of strategic importance to spend an academic year in the United States. Participants live with host families, attend American high schools, and serve as youth ambassadors, building leadership skills and fostering cross-cultural understanding. The program is fully funded and administered by a consortium led by the American Councils for International Education. Students are selected through a competitive, merit-based process, and are expected to share their experiences upon returning to their home countries.
