The Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Community Projects program supports community development projects that address human service needs. Administered by the Department for Local Government (DLG), Office of Federal Grants, it uses part of Kentucky’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) allocation to fund facilities such as senior centers, crisis centers, fire stations, and facilities providing services to low-income persons.
The program aims to help communities provide important services they generally cannot afford, strengthen community involvement, and improve quality of life. Projects must demonstrate significant community need, necessary and reasonable use of CDBG funds, and effective results relative to the funding requested, local effort, and program design. Each funded activity must also meet a CDBG national objective.
