    Description

The Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Housing Program funds projects designed to develop decent, safe, sanitary and affordable housing. Administered by the Department for Local Government through its Office of Federal Grants, the program dedicates part of Kentucky’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) allocation to housing development.

The broader CDBG program supports community development priorities identified with citizen participation, including neighborhood revitalization and expanded affordable housing opportunities. Housing projects must meet at least one CDBG national objective: benefiting low- and moderate-income persons, preventing or eliminating slums or blight, or meeting particularly urgent community development needs. Funding decisions consider project need, reasonableness of costs and overall effectiveness.
