    Description

The Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Department for Local Government (DLG), Office of Federal Grants, administers Public Services funding through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The 2026 funding supports operational costs at existing Recovery Kentucky Substance Abuse Centers. These centers serve individuals with a history of substance abuse, emphasizing people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or referred by the judicial system.

The program aims to help Kentucky residents overcome chemical addictions and avoid homelessness. Funding supports center operations rather than a separate research initiative. Selection considers community need, the necessity and reasonableness of CDBG expenditures, and project effectiveness. Priority also reflects fiscal responsibility and successful implementation of the Recovery Kentucky model, including peer support, daily living skills training, job responsibilities, and practical living experiences.
