The Save Our Seas Foundation’s Keystone Grants support research, conservation and education projects worldwide that protect threatened marine wildlife and their habitats. The program prioritizes established researchers and conservation practitioners with a demonstrated track record, funding work with clear, direct and measurable conservation outcomes for marine chondrichthyans. Projects should use proven methodologies and demonstrate a realistic, well-defined pathway to conservation impact.
Keystone Grants target local projects conducted by, or in collaboration with, local project leaders. Priorities include exceptional conservation need, real-world impact and communicating results to the public. Established researchers proposing small, focused projects should use this program: the distinction from Small Grants rests on the leader’s profile and nature of the work, not budget or minimum duration. Earlier-career applicants and experimental or higher-risk projects are encouraged to consider Small Grants instead.
