Description
The Save Our Seas Foundation’s Keystone Grants support research, conservation and education projects worldwide that protect threatened marine wildlife and habitats. The programme prioritises established researchers, educators and conservation practitioners with demonstrated experience, and projects with clear, direct and measurable conservation outcomes. Only projects concerned with marine chondrichthyans—sharks, rays, skates, sawfishes and chimaeras—will be considered.
Keystone projects should use proven methods and demonstrate a realistic route to applied conservation impact. The programme targets local projects conducted by, or in collaboration with, local project leaders. Established researchers proposing small, focused projects should also apply here: the distinction from Small Grants rests on the leader’s profile and the nature of the work, rather than budget or minimum duration. Earlier-career applicants and experimental or higher-risk approaches are directed toward Small Grants.
