The NIH Common Fund supports development of the Gabriella Miller Kids First Pediatric Research Program’s Training and Outreach Core (TOC). Kids First advances collaborative research into childhood cancer and congenital anomalies through shared genomic and phenotypic data. The TOC will help researchers, clinicians, developers, citizen scientists, patients, and families understand and use these resources.
The core will develop and evaluate online training, maintain accessible learning resources, coordinate outreach events, and communicate the program’s activities and impact in plain language. It will also plan a possible Kids First Fellows Program, prioritizing graduate students, early-stage investigators, and citizen scientists. The recipient will work closely with the Kids First Data Resource Center, NIH Kids First Working Group, and other NIH data initiatives to broaden participation and facilitate research across data resources.
