Description
The Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board (OWEB) administers this program to carry out Interim Measure 11 of the Amended Klamath Hydroelectric Settlement Agreement. It funds restoration and conservation work in the Oregon Klamath Basin that reduces nutrient inputs and improves water quality in the mainstem Klamath River. PacifiCorp provided the program funding, and a steering committee facilitated by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality helps guide its use.
Grants support both project implementation and the engineering or design needed for site-specific restoration. Project categories include natural wetlands restoration, diffuse source treatment wetlands, riparian fencing and grazing management, and on-farm irrigation efficiency and water management. Projects upstream of Upper Klamath Lake receive priority; downstream projects can be considered when they demonstrate benefits to the river.
