The Knaster-Jacobs Fellowship in Yiddish Studies supports original doctoral, post-doctoral, or scholarly research focused on linguistic, literary, or historical topics. Administered by the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research, it provides a three-month research period in YIVO’s Library and Archives. The fellowship was established in memory of Baruch and Cila Knaster and Sidney and Martha Jacobs.
The award is part of YIVO’s Max Weinreich Center Research Fellowships, which support scholarship using its library and archival collections. These fellowships are intended primarily, but not exclusively, for graduate students and emerging scholars. Alongside their research, fellows contribute to YIVO’s public scholarly programming through a required public lecture during or immediately after their research period.
