Key Information: Visits must be hosted by a current EPS member and be separate from the applicant’s planned PhD or funded project.
The Experimental Psychology Society (EPS) supports study visits that develop research skills in experimental psychology. Professor Dorothy Bishop established the scheme in 2020 in memory of Kuppuraj, a postdoctoral researcher from India who worked with her on a study visit. It supports Global South postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers visiting UK laboratories outside their academic base.
Visits may involve learning experimental procedures first-hand, collecting data unavailable at the home department, or designing studies requiring the host laboratory’s input. The scheme favours specific research or training opportunities that complement experience already acquired. Applicants should explain why the training or facilities cannot be accessed at home and how the visit is distinct from existing funded work. Relevant plans for open science practices may also be included.
