Description
The Waterbird Society’s Kushlan Research Award encourages significant scientific advances in the biology, ecology, and conservation biology of wading birds, including herons, storks, ibises, and their taxonomic allies. The award is supported by an endowment established through a grant to the Society in 2000 and named for heron researcher Jim Kushlan.
The grants committee currently seeks work on relationships among species in this group and on the status, ranges, and population sizes of little-known Ciconiiformes. It selects projects for their scientific merit and their potential to make timely, substantial contributions to the published literature.
