The Kuwait Program Research Fellowship is administered by the Middle East Initiative (MEI) at Harvard Kennedy School. It supports junior and mid-career policy-oriented scholars and faculty with a ten-month stipend and access to Harvard’s libraries and other resources for independent research. Funded through the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), the program advances evidence-based, rigorously scientific solutions to public policy challenges facing Kuwait, the Gulf region, and the world.
Research priorities include health, education, energy, environment, water and food security, and digital transformation and artificial intelligence. MEI is particularly interested in emerging scholars and social scientists pursuing policy-relevant research intended for publication in peer-reviewed, internationally ranked, open-access journals. Fellows are matched with Harvard faculty mentors whose expertise aligns with their proposed projects.
