The Lab-to-Launch Initiative, offered by the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC), provides targeted, non-dilutive grants to early-stage startups in Virginia that are commercializing intellectual property originating from one of the Commonwealth’s six R1 research universities. The program is designed to bridge the gap between academic research and market entry, enabling university spinouts to reimburse licensing universities and accelerate commercialization-focused activities. Funding supports technology and market validation, prototype development, customer pilots, and other steps necessary to advance university-originated innovations toward market readiness. Lab-to-Launch is a core part of VIPC’s mission to foster innovation-driven economic growth across Virginia.
