Description
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Lake Monitoring & Protection Network provides annual support for counties, tribes, and designated agents to carry out aquatic invasive species (AIS) prevention and lake-monitoring work. Activities under an agreement can include early detection monitoring, watercraft inspections, Citizen Lake Monitoring Network participation, collection and reporting of lake data, outreach, technical assistance, and coordination among network participants.
DNR bases each county’s allocation on a model that considers resource quantity and condition, existing network activity, and the county’s people and economy. When multiple counties work with one designated agent, their combined allocation is covered by a single agreement.
