Description
Arizona State Parks & Trails administers the state and local assistance side of the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). Established by Congress in 1964 and funded by earnings from offshore oil and gas leasing, LWCF supports public outdoor recreation while helping protect lands and waters.
Arizona grants provide matching funds to acquire parkland and develop public parks, trails, and open spaces. Projects can include outdoor recreation facilities, accessibility upgrades, fields, bike parks, pools, and playground equipment. Arizona State Parks & Trails evaluates proposals on project need and quality, conservation, sustainable recreation, community benefits, health and wellness, and project management.
