Description
The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) provides funding to states for conservation and recreation and, through the states, to local governments for “close to home” outdoor recreation needs. The program brings conservation and recreation together, connecting state-level support with outdoor recreation needs in local communities. Its local emphasis is on recreation close to where people live. LWCF operates as a reimbursable, 50/50 matching grant program, with grants awarded yearly.
