Description
The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), administered by the North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department (NDPRD), is a federally funded, state-administered 50/50 matching grant program aimed at supporting outdoor recreation projects throughout North Dakota. The program provides financial assistance for the acquisition, development, and enhancement of public parks, playgrounds, pools, campgrounds, trails, and other outdoor recreation facilities. LWCF projects must serve public outdoor recreation needs and ensure that assisted lands remain dedicated to such use in perpetuity. Funding is available to eligible public entities through a competitive process, with projects prioritized based on statewide and regional outdoor recreation needs as identified in North Dakota’s State Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP).
