Description
The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) State Assistance Program is federally funded and administered in Oregon by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD). It supports acquisition of land and water for public outdoor recreation, including additions to parks, forests, wildlife areas, and beaches. It also funds development, major rehabilitation, and renovation of outdoor recreation facilities and the basic facilities that support their use.
The program aims to create and sustain recreation areas for lasting public use while encouraging non-federal investment. Projects must align with Oregon’s 2025–2029 Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP), relevant local land-use and park master plans, and applicable accessibility requirements. The National Park Service reviews and approves projects selected through Oregon’s process.
