Description
The Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) supports conservation of natural and working lands in California’s Sierra-Cascade region through fee-title and conservation easement acquisitions. The program seeks to permanently protect lands threatened by development or degradation and deliver clear, enduring public benefits. Priorities include public access, places of cultural importance to Native Americans, working landscapes, water resources, wildlife habitat, and climate and wildfire resilience.
The program also supports planning needed for a specific future acquisition, such as appraisals, environmental analysis, surveys, and management plans. Planning and acquisition projects are separate categories; long-term management of conserved lands is not an eligible project on its own.
