Description
This grant program is designed to strengthen relationships with land and water for underserved geographies and populations across Maine. It supports projects that expand access to land and water for community use, with a special emphasis on land return to Wabanaki Nations or Wabanaki-led organizations, as well as initiatives that facilitate land for food (such as hunting, fishing, wild food harvesting, working farms, community agriculture, working waterfronts, and community fisheries). Projects must actively involve the communities served in all aspects of project development and implementation. Funding is available for both land acquisition/protection and other land-based projects that can be completed within one year and foster inclusive, community-driven stewardship of Maine's natural resources.
