Kentucky’s Land & Water Conservation Fund supports the protection of important natural areas, acquisition of land for outdoor recreation, and development or renovation of public outdoor recreation facilities. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of the Interior’s National Park Service and administered by Kentucky’s Department for Local Government.
Supported facilities include campgrounds, picnic areas, sports and playfields, swimming facilities, boating and fishing facilities, trails, natural areas, and passive parks. Projects may combine land acquisition and facility development. The program connects public recreation investment with long-term land protection, supporting facilities that serve the general public and address needs identified in Kentucky’s Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP).
