The American Association for Anatomy (AAA) offers this oral-presentation competition award at Anatomy Connected, its annual meeting, with sponsorship from Anatomical Record. The award recognizes research presented by graduate students and medical, dental, or veterinary students. Students may compete for presentation awards in addition to receiving separate meeting travel support.
The competition emphasizes scientific quality and the importance of the work presented. Research-focused, non-descriptive presentations receive priority over descriptive work, although descriptive submissions are encouraged. Scientific and educational research are evaluated using the scientific process. Blind abstract review identifies finalists, with assessment focused on a clearly defined research problem, a testable aim, organized methods, clear results, and evidence-supported interpretation and significance.
