This program supports early-career researchers submitting Registered Reports to Language Learning. Administered by the Board of Directors of the Language Learning Research Club, on whose behalf the journal is published, it aims to foster a culture of Registered Reports and strengthen open-science practices among junior scholars. Registered Reports undergo review of their methods and proposed analyses before research is conducted, helping reduce bias and questionable research practices.
The journal welcomes research on first and second language acquisition across disciplinary perspectives, including linguistics, psychology, education, anthropology, cognitive science, neuroscience, and sociology. It prioritizes work examining language-learning processes through language performance data. Grant consideration follows Stage 1 in-principle acceptance, linking research support to the journal’s Registered Report review process.
