Brown University’s Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) supports research, programming, and collaborative projects through its La(s) Frontera(s) Initiative. The initiative focuses on borderlands, migration, and transnationalism in Latin America and the Caribbean, with particular attention to lived experiences of fronteras—whether geographic, cultural, linguistic, or conceptual.
The initiative seeks dialogue across disciplines about how borders shape identities, economies, and political life. Supported programming and research run through June 2027. Projects should also connect with CLACS’s broader 2025–27 themes: Climate and Conservation; Arts and Cultures; and Politics and Peripheries.
