Description
The American Society of Hematology’s Latin American Training Program (LATP) supports 12 weeks of specialized training around regional hematology priorities. Participants develop clinical or laboratory skills at host institutions, build ongoing professional relationships, and return home to implement their newly acquired knowledge. The program aims to strengthen institutional capacity and improve hematology patient care across Latin America.
Training options include adult and pediatric stem cell transplantation, diagnosis and treatment of coagulopathies, flow cytometry and molecular biology, hematopathology, and thrombosis and hemostasis. Depending on the placement, learning includes supervised clinical care, hands-on laboratory work, case discussions, lectures, scientific meetings, and quality management.
