The Latin American Training Program (LATP) is an initiative of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) designed to strengthen hematology expertise across Latin America. The program provides selected physicians, scientists, and laboratory staff with 12 weeks of hands-on training at premier institutions in the region. Areas of focus include stem cell transplantation (adult and pediatric), coagulopathies, flow cytometry, molecular biology, hematopathology, and thrombosis & hemostasis. Participants engage in daily clinical and laboratory activities, attend scientific and case meetings, and receive mentorship to help them implement advanced practices at their home institutions. The program aims to build sustainable hematology capacity, improve patient care, and foster ongoing professional development and collaboration.
