Description
The Rural Sociological Society (RSS) offers this award to support graduate students investigating social issues related to food and agriculture. It promotes scholarly development while advancing the Society’s commitment to food and agricultural issues. Supported work includes thesis, dissertation, and other graduate research addressing a well-defined problem in this area.
The program connects support for a research project with the applicant’s future engagement in food and agriculture. Applications explain how the proposed work will influence that future engagement and set out the relevant literature, methods, work schedule, and plans for disseminating findings. A faculty letter addresses the project’s intellectual significance and the likelihood that thesis or dissertation work will be actively pursued during the academic year of the award.
