The Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA) New Investigator Pilot Study Award supports pilot translational or clinical studies that produce preliminary data for future grant applications. It is intended for early-stage investigators and researchers entering Lewy body dementia (LBD) research from other fields. By helping investigators establish an initial evidence base, LBDA aims to improve prospects for larger research projects funded by NIH and other grant-making organizations.
Projects should address one or more national research recommendations for LBD, with the broader goal of advancing diagnosis, management, and support for people with LBD and their family caregivers. LBD encompasses dementia with Lewy bodies and Parkinson’s disease dementia. The program also highlights gaps in evidence about LBD’s impact on individuals and caregivers and the need for tailored care and support interventions.
