Description
Coefficient Giving’s Lead Exposure Action Fund (LEAF) supports work to accelerate progress toward a world free of lead exposure. It backs partners identifying and eliminating major exposure sources in low- and middle-income countries, where exposure levels are higher and resources to address the problem are fewer. The fund expects the vast majority of its funding to support work in these countries.
LEAF’s strategy combines measurement, mitigation, and mainstreaming. Measurement projects collect data on exposure prevalence and sources and improve testing methods. Mitigation projects address urgent, tractable sources through policy and technical solutions, including lead in paint, adulterated spices, cookware, cosmetics, and battery recycling. Mainstreaming projects increase attention and funding from governments, aid agencies, and philanthropies. The fund’s current strategic targets extend through the end of 2027 and are expected to evolve as measurement reveals new features of the problem.
