Description
The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) runs this yearlong fellowship to help early- and mid-career faculty develop scholarly writing skills for academic advancement and leadership. Training and mentorship cover developing research questions, analyzing data, assessing existing literature, and writing, presenting, and publishing scholarly work. Fellows also learn to recognize and address the minority tax and build a personalized leadership and career roadmap.
The curriculum combines scholar-led virtual meetings, in-person workshops, and conference participation. Early-career fellows develop scholarship tied to their academic responsibilities with faculty and peer mentors. Mid-career fellows receive tailored support for stalled scholarship, promotion barriers, CV preparation, and leadership challenges. Supported in part by the STFM Foundation, the program aims to strengthen scholarly voices and advance careers in academic family medicine.
