Description
Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity’s Leading Teams program explores creative ways to move beyond Western governance models and embrace culturally grounded Indigenous governance. Designed for leaders, administrators, and service providers, the in-person program uses presentations, workshops, and classroom exercises to strengthen organizational effectiveness at the board and council level. With guidance from an Elder, participants share traditional and spiritual wisdom while connecting with the land and cultural teachings.
The program builds on traditional Indigenous governance structures and considers how corporate governance systems can be adapted. Topics include stewardship, roles and responsibilities, team building, conflict resolution, strategic planning, decision-making, transparency, and accountability. Applying Indigenous knowledge, creativity in leadership, and partnerships supports its focus on strengthening community and organizational capacity.
