LEARN (Leverage, Empower, Advance, Research, Network) is an initiative by the Jacobs Foundation to strengthen scientific capacity in Ghana and Colombia. The program equips researchers with advanced training, mentorship, and access to international research networks to address the underrepresentation of Global South scholars in educational and developmental science. LEARN is closely linked with the Jacobs Foundation’s LEVANTE initiative, which focuses on understanding learning variability in children. Participants benefit from inquiry-driven instruction, professional networking, proposal development opportunities, and support for applying advanced research methods to locally relevant questions in education and child development. The program is led by experts in the field and collaborates with institutions such as NYU Global TIES for Children, University of Cape Coast, and Universidad de los Andes.
