Funder: National Institutes of Health
Due Dates (Anticipated): October 2027 (Application deadline)
Funding Amounts: No cost sharing or matching required
Summary: Supports transdisciplinary research centers improving outcomes for children and youth with, or at risk for, specific learning disabilities in mathematics, reading, and writing.
Key Information: Centers will collaborate with key stakeholders and provide project-based mentorship for emerging learning disabilities researchers.
The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), part of the National Institutes of Health, seeks to support transdisciplinary research centers focused on specific learning disabilities (SLDs). The program aims to improve outcomes for children and youth who are at risk for, or diagnosed with, SLDs affecting mathematics, reading, and writing.
Research will focus on improving the identification and classification of SLDs, deepening understanding of their genetic and neurobiological underpinnings, and testing innovative screening and intervention approaches. Centers will use their funded research infrastructure to collaborate with key stakeholders and provide project-based mentorship for the next generation of SLD researchers.
