The American Society of Primatologists (ASP) Legacy Award supports short-term interdisciplinary training for early-career professionals in primatology. Established in 2010 through a founding gift from Past President Don Lindburg, the fund recognizes the Society’s role in professional development. It helps recipients acquire knowledge or skills outside their existing expertise that complement their strengths and enable unique contributions to primate research or the agencies and organizations that affect it.
Training may include molecular biology or endocrinology for a field primatologist, field research skills for a laboratory primatologist, or experience with a Congressional committee, USDA, journalism, or science writing. The program emphasizes training with career-enhancing potential and a lasting influence on the recipient’s contributions to primatology.
