Description
The Bigglesworth Family Foundation’s Legal Services program strengthens civil legal aid, primarily in California. It treats legal services as both a safety-net resource and a poverty-alleviation tool. General operating grants support providers offering unique services in their communities, including organizations in “legal deserts.” Innovative and replicable grants help legal services leaders test models that improve their organizations and can benefit peers.
The program also supports organizations that strengthen the sector through training, technical assistance, research, advocacy, and impact litigation. Recruitment and retention funding addresses the pipeline of legal services professionals through loan forgiveness, loan repayment assistance, and staff well-being. Access Grants help organizations obtain existing tools that improve efficient service delivery and directly benefit the organization or its clients.
