Description
Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity’s Leighton Artist Studio Residency supports individual creative professionals undertaking independent research creation, exploration, and project development. Private, purpose-built studios in forested surroundings offer focused time for writing, music, theatre, visual arts, design, filmmaking, and interdisciplinary practice. Participants organize their own time for concentration, collaboration, exploration, and creation.
Studios offer different environments for literary and research-based projects, composition and sound-based work, or physical creation and experimentation. The residency is intended for autonomous work: it does not provide production support, technical assistance, instrument rentals, or specialized production facilities. Scholarships contribute to participation costs, while campus resources include accommodation, meals, the Paul D. Fleck Library and Archives, and opportunities to connect with other artists.
