    Description

The Leo Baeck Institute awards the David Baumgardt Memorial Fellowship to support scholars whose research connects with Professor David Baumgardt’s writings or scholarly interests. Its research priorities include Ethics, Wissenschaft des Judentums, and the Modern Intellectual History of German-speaking Jewry. One fellowship is awarded each year, with financial assistance determined according to the project’s requirements.

The fellowship links individual research projects to the Institute’s collections and facilities in New York. In principle, supported research requires extensive use of these resources, particularly the David Baumgardt Collection. The Institute is a research library and archive devoted to the history and culture of German-speaking Jewry.
