Description
The LEO Foundation Dr Abildgaard Fellowships support promising emerging research leaders in establishing or expanding independent research groups at Danish institutions. The program funds ambitious, creative research addressing novel and important questions about skin and skin diseases. Stable five-year support is intended to give fellows freedom to adjust their scientific direction and establish a clear, competitive research profile.
Supported work may be basic, translational, epidemiological, or clinical. Priorities include understanding skin biology and disease mechanisms, addressing clinical issues and quality-of-life impacts, and developing diagnostics, prevention methods, treatments, and personalized medicine. Projects may integrate complementary fields such as data science. Clinical trials must be investigator-initiated and conducted and published independently of commercial interests. Aesthetic or cosmetic dermatology is excluded, but treatment of moderate to severe late sequels of dermatological disease is not considered cosmetic.
