Description
The Lesbian Health Fund (LHF), a program of GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ+ Equality, funds rigorous scientific research to improve the health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ women and girls, including gender diverse people assigned female at birth. Established in 1992, the fund supports small-scale pilot studies and research that builds knowledge of the factors shaping these communities’ health needs.
LHF welcomes proposals identifying or addressing health disparities, with special consideration for pilot data supporting subsequent training or early-stage investigator grants and populations underrepresented in sexual and gender minority research. It values community-informed, participatory, trauma-informed, social and behavioral, and intersectional approaches. Research need not produce direct clinical care outcomes: policies, social determinants of health, and other public health factors are also relevant.
