Description
The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida administers general program support grants through its LGBTQ Community Fund. Created in 2014, the fund brings together individuals committed to an inclusive, welcoming environment that celebrates and supports the region’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community. Grants support successful nonprofit programs that build greater togetherness within LGBTQ communities and welcome and celebrate LGBTQ people.
The fund’s priorities respond to community-level data and analysis of pressing local needs, including the Williams Institute’s Jacksonville-Area Community Assessment. Priority populations are aging adults, Black/African Americans, gender minorities and youth, though projects benefiting other LGBTQ populations are also considered. Past supported work includes leadership development, family support, sensitivity training, cultural events, inclusion workshops and transgender education.
