Description
The Arizona Commission on the Arts funds community-based projects that give adult learners of any age, or intergenerational groups, meaningful opportunities to make art. Projects use sequential, hands-on learning to develop artistic skills, processes, and creativity. They may draw on dance, literary or media arts, music, theatre, traditional and folk arts, visual arts, or other artistic and cultural disciplines.
The program emphasizes active participation over passive exposure to art. Projects should take place in accessible, safe, and nurturing spaces; build on the assets of the community they serve; and give learners a voice in their development and implementation. Applicants define learning objectives, outcomes, and evaluation methods relevant to their learners.
