Description
The Lilly Endowment Clergy Renewal Programs, administered by the Center for Pastoral Excellence at Christian Theological Seminary (CTS), support Christian congregations by giving pastors time away from daily parish responsibilities for intentional renewal and reflection. The Indiana and National programs invite pastors and congregational leaders to design experiences around the question, “What will make your heart sing?”
Renewal leaves are not vacations or academic fellowships. They may include rest and prayer, travel, reading, directed research, creative activities, or time with family and friends. No single model is prescribed. The programs emphasize physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual renewal, alongside opportunities for congregations to exercise leadership and renew their own ministries. They are intended for pastors and congregations with strong relationships, mutual trust, and a commitment to future ministry together.
